Our vision
Stowaway is one central place that connects people looking for travel and adventure with captains looking for guests. Captains list spare berths aboard voyages they are already running; travelers book a place — a berth — on a real passage, no boat ownership or full-boat charter required. We check every captain's license and current insurance before they can list, and your payment is held and protected until the voyage is complete.
Where it began
I'm Brian, and I started Stowaway after losing my dad to cancer.
My dad loved seeing our country — through camping trips, long road trips, and every back road in between. He served in the military, and that example is part of why we give current and former service members — and the nurses and doctors who care for people like him — 10% off every voyage. Some of my best memories come from those miles. When he passed, my wife and I leaned hard into travel. It became the thing that helped us heal: time away, new horizons, and the space to find the better parts of life again and simply enjoy them.
I only wish my dad and my mother had something like Stowaway — one simple place to find and book those amazing places and things before his passing.
That wish is why we built it. Stowaway exists so more people can see amazing places and things — on the water, with a captain who knows the way — while there's still time to enjoy them.
Real voyages
Multi-day passages, liveaboards and island hopping on routes captains already sail.
Checked captains
License number and a current insurance certificate reviewed before a captain can list.
Protected payments
Money is held until the voyage is completed — refunded in full if the captain cancels, including for weather.
